Las Vegas Raiders Announce Major Changes
The Las Vegas Raiders are making significant changes to their football operations, announcing the firing of General Manager Tom Telesco on Thursday. This move comes shortly after the dismissal of head coach Antonio Pierce earlier this week.
Team Statement
The Raiders released an official statement regarding Telesco’s departure:
“The Las Vegas Raiders have relieved Tom Telesco of his duties as General Manager. We appreciate his efforts in helping build a foundation for the future. We wish Tom and his family all the best.”
A Brief Tenure for Telesco
Telesco, 52, was hired as the Raiders’ General Manager in January 2024, replacing former GM Dave Ziegler. He was paired with Antonio Pierce, who was brought on as the team’s full-time head coach at the same time. Together, they replaced the previous regime led by head coach Josh McDaniels and Ziegler, both of whom were hired in 2022.
Unfortunately, the Telesco-Pierce tandem oversaw a disappointing season, with the Raiders finishing 4-13 in 2024.
Telesco’s Background
Before joining the Raiders, Telesco served as the General Manager of the Los Angeles Chargers from 2013 to 2023, where the team posted an overall record of 84-92 during his tenure. Prior to that, he spent 14 years with the Indianapolis Colts (1998-2012), rising through the scouting department.
Looking Ahead
The Raiders’ decision to part ways with both their head coach and general manager signals a hard reset for the organization as they seek to rebuild their football operations. With these leadership roles now vacant, all eyes are on the franchise’s next steps as it aims to establish a stronger foundation for future success.
