The entertainment world is seeing major changes across television, music and Hollywood. The BBC is saying goodbye to Drag Race UK, Harry Styles has expanded his world tour with several major artists joining him, and South Park has turned another political controversy into satire. Meanwhile, Nicolas Cage’s Malibu property has been caught up in a serious coastal emergency after a massive sinkhole opened outside his home. Together, these stories are among the biggest culture news developments making headlines this week.

Drag Race UK Leaves the BBC After Eight Series

Another major BBC entertainment programme is heading in a different direction. RuPaul’s Drag Race UK will leave the BBC after eight series, ending a run that began in 2019.

Future series, along with the Drag Race UK vs The World spin-off, will move to Wow Presents Plus, the streaming service owned by World of Wonder, the company behind the programme. The current series will continue on BBC Three and iPlayer as planned.

The decision comes as the BBC works to make £500 million in savings. A BBC spokesperson said the broadcaster is dealing with “significant financial pressures” that have forced it to reconsider some of its programming.

“As the BBC continues to navigate significant financial pressures and deliver the savings required of us, we have had to make some very difficult choices, none of which have been taken lightly,” the spokesperson said.

The BBC also said it was “proud […] of this groundbreaking show” and thanked “RuPaul, World of Wonder and everyone involved, both on and off screen”.

During its run, Drag Race UK helped bring British drag further into mainstream television and produced stars including Danny Beard, La Voix and Tia Kofi. At its peak, the programme averaged around 1.5 million viewers per episode.

The move does not mean the end of the British version of the franchise. Wow Presents Plus has described what comes next as a “new era”, while Drag Race UK All Stars, featuring returning contestants, is planned for autumn 2027.

Harry Styles Takes His Tour Into 2027

Harry Styles is making his Together, Together Tour even bigger. The singer has announced 25 additional stadium concerts for 2027, extending the tour supporting his fourth studio album, Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally.

The new dates begin in Phoenix on April 2 and take Styles through cities including Dallas, Los Angeles, Toronto, Atlanta, Chicago, Berlin, Paris, Madrid, Rome and Dublin. The run is scheduled to finish with three shows at London’s Wembley Stadium in August.

Styles is also bringing a major group of support acts on the road. Kylie Minogue will join him for his Los Angeles dates, while other shows will feature artists including Tinashe, Lainey Wilson, Caroline Polachek, Feist, LCD Soundsystem and Tears For Fears.

The expanded schedule follows a major year for Styles, who is currently performing a 30-show residency at Madison Square Garden in New York.

Speaking about performing in the city, Styles said, “New York operates at a higher frequency than I do.”

“At times, I find it quite a lot. But for that reason, I’ve always loved performing there so much. You really feel the city during the show, this swelling of energy,” he said.

Styles also reflected on the role his fans have played in making such large runs possible.

“During the shows, there’s a lot more moments where I’m standing there taking it in, when I’m in the room with the crowd, seeing this energy they’ve made,” he said. “I feel so aware that it exists past the shows, the songs, the tour-everything.”

The singer added, “I can show up and play as many times as people buy tickets for. Doing this many shows in New York is solely because of them.”

South Park Becomes South America in Latest Political Joke

Trey Parker and Matt Stone have once again used South Park to make a political statement. The creators announced that they were changing the name of their long-running animated series to South America, at least for now, in an apparent joke aimed at President Donald Trump.

The move follows Trump’s efforts to rename geographic locations, including the Gulf of Mexico as the Gulf of America and, more recently, Lake Ontario as Lake America for US government purposes. Apple and Google subsequently reflected the Lake America name for US users of their mapping services.

Parker and Stone responded in their usual satirical style.

“Inspired by the bravery and patriotism of Apple and Google, we are changing the name of South Park to SOUTH AMERICA,” they said.

Their statement also took aim at the show’s own corporate parent: “We especially want to thank our parent company Paramount – a Skydance Capitulation.”

When asked how long the change would last, the creators doubled down, saying, “We are 100% committed to SOUTH AMERICA.”

The joke arrives shortly before the show’s 29th season and after South Park won the Emmy for outstanding animated program. Political satire has long been central to the series, and Parker and Stone have repeatedly targeted Trump along with politicians, celebrities, corporations and cultural trends.

Nicolas Cage’s Malibu Home Caught in Coastal Emergency

Away from television and music, actor Nicolas Cage’s Malibu property has become part of a much more serious story.

A large sinkhole opened outside the oceanfront home, causing its driveway and part of the surrounding roadway to collapse. The incident also caused a gas leak and eventually led Malibu officials to declare a local emergency as conditions worsened.

The sinkhole grew to approximately 25 feet deep and 30 by 60 feet wide, according to city officials. Seven homes were red-tagged because of hazardous conditions, while another 24 properties faced restrictions because safe vehicle access had been lost.

“Emergency personnel access is severely constrained and may be impassable, due to the large portion of the road that has collapsed,” Malibu officials said.

Authorities added that the remaining roadway was too narrow for vehicles such as fire engines, “creating a substantial risk to public safety and emergency response capabilities.”

Cage reportedly bought the Malibu property in 2024. No injuries were reported in the initial collapse, and the gas leak was brought under control. The incident came as the Southern California coast faced dangerous waves, rain and flooding associated with Marie, along with concerns about continued coastal erosion.

A Week of Major Changes Across Entertainment

This week’s biggest culture news reflects how quickly the entertainment landscape can change. Drag Race UK is moving from traditional BBC broadcasting to a dedicated streaming platform, Harry Styles is expanding an already enormous tour, and South Park continues to turn current politics into cultural satire.

The situation surrounding Nicolas Cage’s Malibu home adds a very different story to the week’s headlines, showing how events outside the entertainment industry can suddenly affect some of its biggest names. From major television changes to stadium tours, political comedy and an unfolding emergency in Malibu, it has been an unusually eventful week across culture and entertainment.
