Frustrations Boil Over
After publicly stating throughout 2024 that he intended to finish his career with the Miami Dolphins, star wide receiver Tyreek Hill hinted at a potential departure following the team’s season-ending loss. The Dolphins finished 8-9, missing the playoffs.
Speaking to reporters, Hill expressed dissatisfaction with his role on a struggling team:
“There’s a lot of things that I need to reassess about my career. I just gotta do what’s best for me and my family, whether that’s here or wherever the case may be. I’m finna open that door for myself. … I’m out, bro. It was great playing here, but at the end of the day, I gotta do what’s best for my career. I’m too much of a competitor to be just out there.”
Dolphins GM Responds
Dolphins General Manager Chris Grier addressed Hill’s comments on Tuesday, downplaying the possibility of an imminent trade. He noted that Hill was “emotional” after Week 18 but confirmed having “productive” conversations with the wide receiver. Grier did not, however, rule out a potential relocation.
Hill, who restructured his contract this season, could be a complex trade candidate due to financial implications. The Dolphins could avoid a $51.89 million payout in 2026 by moving him, and his performance—a career-high 1,799 receiving yards in 2023—could attract suitors.
Potential Landing Spots for Tyreek Hill
Atlanta Falcons
The Falcons are retooling their offense around rookie QB Michael Penix Jr. after moving on from Kirk Cousins. Hill, a Georgia native, could provide a dynamic upgrade to Atlanta’s offense, complementing their younger core.
Baltimore Ravens
The Ravens could pair Hill with emerging star Zay Flowers, giving quarterback Lamar Jackson the most explosive deep threat of his career. Baltimore’s midseason trade for Diontae Johnson shows their willingness to pursue receiver help.
Green Bay Packers
With over $60 million in projected cap space for 2025, the Packers could pursue Hill to bolster an offense led by QB Jordan Love. Coach Matt LaFleur might reconsider his stance on needing a No. 1 wideout after dealing with injuries to Christian Watson.
Los Angeles Chargers
The Chargers, under new coach Jim Harbaugh, could use Hill to reinvigorate their passing attack. Pairing Hill with promising rookie Ladd McConkey could provide a lethal combination in the AFC West.
Washington Commanders
Armed with $99 million in cap space, the Commanders could pair Hill with Terry McLaurin, creating one of the NFL’s most dangerous receiving duos. With young QB Jayden Daniels at the helm, Washington could offer Hill an appealing situation.
What’s Next?
While no trade request has been officially submitted, Hill’s comments have fueled speculation. The Dolphins face critical decisions about their roster, and Hill’s future will likely dominate offseason headlines.
